Sehr schön, ich bin auch dabei. Das wird die große Weihnachtsfolge heute, Leute. Ihr habt es wahrscheinlich schon geahnt, wir haben es auch schon angekündigt letzte Woche. Wir reden über Weihnachten. Natürlich. Wir haben in ein paar Tagen das große Fest, das größte Fest des Jahres und da müssen wir natürlich hier so ein bisschen was abliefern bei Deutsches Geplapper. Very nice, I’m here too. This is going to be the big Christmas episode today, folks. You’ve probably already guessed it, we also announced it last week. We’re talking about Christmas. Of course. In a few days we have the big celebration, the biggest celebration of the year and so we naturally have to deliver a little something here at Deutsches Geplapper.

Entschuldigt das Wort Content, Inhalt. Und ja, das wir, wir passen uns einfach nur an, aber das ist auch in Ordnung. Wir können auch mal über Deutschland reden über Weihnachten. Ihr werdet wahrscheinlich einige Wörter dieser Folge nicht kennen, nicht sofort verstehen, aber dadurch, dass die englische Version drunter steht, unter jedem einzelnen Satz, habt ihr die Möglichkeit ja, deutlich schneller voranzukommen, deutlich schneller den Inhalt zu erfassen. Ihr trainiert euer Hörverständnis, ihr trainiert euer Wortschatz, vor allem auch mit der Liste des alltagsrelevanten Wortschatzes und ihr bekommt ein paar Übungen, um das Ganze zu verfestigen. Ja, mein Wort der Woche ist sentimental. Das ist bringt glaube ich so ein bisschen die Jahreszeit mit sich und auch diese ganze Vorweihnachtszeit und so, das ist ja alles immer ein bisschen, ja, bisschen bisschen ruhiger und emotionaler und so weiter und es gibt dann ja, für jeden individuell wahrscheinlich einige Gründe, warum er vielleicht um diese Jahreszeit herum ein bisschen sentimentaler wird und ja, das ist trifft bei mir auch gerade irgendwie zu, das passt sehr gut hier rein und deshalb ist das mein Wort der Woche. Was ist bei dir? Yes, my word of the week is sentimental. I think the season brings that with it, and also this whole pre-Christmas time and so on, it’s always a bit, yeah, a bit quieter and more emotional and so on, and then there are probably some reasons for everyone individually why they might become a bit more sentimental around this time of year and yes, that also applies to me right now somehow, it fits in very well here and that’s why it’s my word of the week. What about you?

Aha, okay. Aha, okay.
Ja, endlich ist es wieder kalt genug, um also die Ostsee ist endlich wieder kalt genug, um um so richtig schön baden zu gehen. Ich habe damit jetzt vor ungefähr einem Jahr angefangen und den Sommer über konnte ich das leider nicht machen und ja, jetzt vergangene Woche war ich das erste Mal wieder in der Ostsee und ja, was? Und ich muss sagen, es war hart, aber es war schön. Also danach fühlt man sich wieder einfach wie neugeboren und es hat unglaublich viele positive Effekte auf den Organismus, auf die Psyche. Man muss allerdings auch eine Zeit lang drin bleiben. Also man sollte je nach Wassertemperatur schon mindestens 2 Minuten drin bleiben mit dem ganzen Körper. Yes, it’s finally cold enough again, so the Baltic Sea is finally cold enough again to go for a really nice swim. I started about a year ago and unfortunately I couldn’t do it over the summer and yes, last week I was in the Baltic Sea again for the first time and yeah, what? And I have to say, it was tough, but it was nice. So afterwards you just feel like newborn again and it has incredibly many positive effects on the organism, on the psyche. However, you also have to stay in for a while. So depending on the water temperature, you should stay in for at least 2 minutes with your whole body.
Das ist hart. That’s tough.
Ist hart, ist hart. Am besten macht man es auch nicht alleine, gerade als Anfänger, da ja, kann sonst einiges schieflaufen, aber trotzdem, wenn ihr euch damit mal beschäftigen wollt, ich kann es nur empfehlen, wirklich. Dir auch. It’s tough, it’s tough. It’s also best not to do it alone, especially as a beginner, because yeah, things can go wrong otherwise, but still, if you ever want to look into it, I can only recommend it, really. To you too.

Jo, Weihnachten. Und ich dachte mir, weil Weihnachten ist ja immer so ein bisschen, ja, da gibt’s so verschiedene Lager und Emotionen dazu und deshalb dachte ich mir, sprechen wir mal darüber, warum Weihnachten in Deutschland so ja, höchst traditionell ist und wahnsinnig romantisch und gleichzeitig auch mega stressig. Ja. So. Und erstmal zum Einstieg möchte ich gerne mit dir ein kleines Quiz machen. Oh. Denn es geht nämlich auch um die Traditionen, Weihnachtstradition in Deutschland und ich habe ein paar Traditionen für dich, wo du dann mal sagen darfst, was du denkst, ob die tatsächlich aus Deutschland sind oder nicht. Yeah, Christmas. And I thought, because Christmas is always a bit, yeah, there are different camps and emotions about it and that’s why I thought we’d talk about why Christmas in Germany is so, well, highly traditional and incredibly romantic and at the same time mega stressful. Yes. So. And first, to start, I’d like to do a little quiz with you. Oh. Because it’s also about traditions, Christmas traditions in Germany, and I have a few traditions for you where you can then say what you think, whether they are actually from Germany or not.

So, du darfst jetzt nicht auf meine Notizen schauen, ich muss da ab und zu drauf schauen. Fangen wir mal ganz einfach, würde ich sagen, an. Der Weihnachtsmann. So, you’re not allowed to look at my notes now, I have to look at them every now and then. Let’s start very simply, I’d say. Santa Claus.
Nee, der kommt aus Finnland. Glaube ich. Oh Gott. Er kommt nicht aus Deutschland. Also es ist, ich glaube, es ist ein skandinavisches Ding. Mhm. No, he’s from Finland. I think. Oh god. He’s not from Germany. So it’s, I think it’s a Scandinavian thing. Mhm.
Okay. Ja, vielleicht müssen wir die Recherchen dann noch mal irgendwie noch mal nachliefern oder sowas. Auf jeden Fall ist der Weihnachtsmann soweit ich es weiß und aus meinen Recherchen, auf jeden Fall nicht Deutsch, aber es ist quasi eine Mischung oder ein Produkt aus dem ja, dem ursprünglichen Nikolaus und einigen ja, so so populären Karikaturen und eben ja, aus der aus Amerika, aus der USA, aus amerikanischen Einflüssen. Also auch tatsächlich vom Coca-Cola Weihnachtsmann. Okay. Yeah, maybe we’ll have to provide the research again somehow later or something. In any case, as far as I know and from my research, Santa Claus is definitely not German, but it’s basically a mixture or a product of, well, the original Saint Nicholas and some, well, popular caricatures and, well, from America, from the USA, from American influences. So also actually from the Coca-Cola Santa.
Ach krass. Wow, crazy.
Das ist tatsächlich ein Ding, also dieser Weihnachtsmann, wie er wie er unseren Kindern gezeigt wird und weiß ich nicht was oder wie er uns auch gezeigt wurde. Das rot-weiße, das ist eigentlich ein Coca-Cola Ding. That’s actually a thing, so this Santa Claus as he’s shown to our children and I don’t know what, or how he was shown to us too. The red and white, that’s actually a Coca-Cola thing.
Wirklich? Really?
