Das wird eine überraschende Aussage hier, wenn ihr es wahrscheinlich nicht schon im Titel gelesen habt. This will be a surprising statement here, if you haven’t already read it in the title.
Ja, eigentlich ist es keine Überraschung. Wir reden über den Kaffee. Well, actually it’s no surprise. We’re talking about coffee.
Das ist tatsächlich das Getränk, das die Deutschen am allermeisten trinken, von allen Getränken, die es gibt, von allen Einzelgetränken, die es gibt, noch vor Wasser. It is actually the drink that Germans drink the most, of all the drinks there are, of all individual drinks there are, even before water.
Das ist krass, das ist richtig krass. Also das hat mich auch ein bisschen schockiert, muss ich sagen. That’s crazy, that’s really crazy. So that also shocked me a bit, I must say.
Aber ich kann es verstehen. Du bist ja Teil des Problems. But I can understand it. You are part of the problem after all.
Gut, wir reden gleich über unsere Kaffeesucht, Leute, ihr werdet ganz viel darüber erfahren und auch so ein paar Hintergründe, wieso das eigentlich so ist in Deutschland und was die Deutschen mit ihrem Kaffee so alles anstellen. Mag ich. Flat White… Nee, ich finde Tassen geiler, beziehungsweise Becher, die ohne Henkel. I like it. Flat White… No, I think cups are cooler, or rather mugs without handles.
Oh nee, da verbrenn ich mir die Pfoten. Oh no, I’ll burn my paws (hands) on those.
Dann ist schon was komplett falsch. Dann stimmt was nicht mit dem Kaffee, wenn du dir da die Pfoten verbrennst direkt.Then something is already completely wrong. Then something is wrong with the coffee if you burn your paws right away.
Das stimmt auch wieder. Ein guter Kaffee sollte nicht zu heiß sein. That’s true too. A good coffee shouldn’t be too hot.

Man muss aber ehrlich sein, in Deutschland ganz viele Leute, so dieser klassische deutsche Kaffee, der hat jetzt wenig mit dem zu tun, was wir gerade beschrieben haben. But you have to be honest, in Germany many people, this classic German coffee, it has little to do with what we just described.
Absolut. Weniger Latte Macchiato, weniger Flat White, nicht dieser ganze moderne Quatsch, auch nicht mit Hafermilch, so wie wir beide ihn trinken, sondern… Absolutely. Less Latte Macchiato, less Flat White, not all this modern nonsense, not even with oat milk, the way we both drink it, but…
Ja, das Beliebteste ist tatsächlich leider Gottes immer noch in Deutschland der Filterkaffee. Yes, the most popular is actually, unfortunately, still filter coffee in Germany.
Der ganz langweilige, Entschuldigung, Filterkaffee. The very boring, sorry, filter coffee.
Und das ist halt wirklich, also wenn man sich ein bisschen mal mit Kaffee beschäftigt, sage ich mal, und mit den Aromen und den Unterschieden, die es da gibt und so, was auch Röstung angeht und weiß ich nicht was für Verfahren, dann ist Filterkaffee eigentlich echt, kannst du nicht trinken. And that’s really, well, if you deal a bit with coffee, let’s say, and with the aromas and the differences there are and so on, also regarding roasting and I don’t know what processes, then filter coffee is actually really, you can’t drink it.
Ich habe sofort dieses Geräusch im Kopf, dieses von so Großraumbüros, dieses Blubbern, wenn der Filterkaffee fertig ist.I immediately have this sound in my head, the one from open-plan offices, this bubbling when the filter coffee is ready.
Damit verbinde ich immer diese Art Kaffee. Mag ich auch überhaupt nicht. I always associate this type of coffee with that. I don’t like it at all either.
Ich habe mal gehört, das soll tatsächlich der gesündeste Kaffee sein, weil er ganz viele schlechte Stoffe aus dem Kaffee zieht durch diesen Filter. I once heard that it’s actually supposed to be the healthiest coffee because it pulls a lot of bad substances out of the coffee through this filter.
Ist mir aber eigentlich auch egal, weil schmeckt nicht. But I don’t really care, because it doesn’t taste good.
Nee, schmeckt einfach nicht. Es ist nichts. No, it just doesn’t taste good. It’s nothing.
