Wir haben gerade eine ganze Folge aufgenommen und leider haben wir dann festgestellt, dass die Kamera nicht gefilmt hat. We just recorded an entire episode and unfortunately, we then realized that the camera wasn’t filming.
Also nehmen wir diese Folge jetzt noch mal auf. Ihr seid live dabei im Land der Pleiten und Pannen, so was passiert auch mal bei Podcast-Aufnahmen. So we’re recording this episode again. Dinge, die man in Deutschland auf gar keinen Fall tun sollte. Beziehungsweise, ja, wir haben so ein paar Dinge rausgesucht, wo man wirklich aufpassen sollte, wenn man in Deutschland sich keine Feinde machen möchte, wenn man sich hier wohlfühlen möchte, wenn man akzeptiert werden möchte. Things you should definitely not do in Germany. Or rather, yes, we’ve picked out a few things where you really have to be careful if you don’t want to make enemies in Germany, if you want to feel comfortable here, if you want to be accepted.
Bei einigen Sachen sind die Deutschen schon sehr sensibel und bei einigen werden wir auch in dieser Folge so ein bisschen erörtern oder erklären, was man vielleicht beachten sollte, was aber nicht ganz so schlimm, als so schlimm angesehen wird. Wir haben jeder so ein paar Sachen aufgeschrieben und ich würde sagen: Starte gerne mal mit dem, was du zuerst hast.We’ve each written down a few things and I’d say: feel free to start with the first one you have.
Ja. Das Erste, was ich habe, ist Ruhestörung. Ruhestörung vor allem am Sonntag. Oder auch Samstag, ich glaube so ab 15 Uhr. Also heißt: Kein Rasenmähen am Sonntag, nicht bohren, nicht sägen, so was. Yes. The first thing I have is disturbing the peace. Disturbing the peace especially on Sundays. Or also Saturdays, I think from around 3 p.m. So that means: no lawn mowing on Sunday, no drilling, no sawing, things like that.
Ja, ja, ja. Und nicht laute Musik spielen oder so. Genau. Also am Sonntag laut sein – absolutes No-Go in Deutschland.Yes, yes, yes. And not playing loud music or anything. Exactly. So being loud on Sunday – an absolute no-go in Germany.
Ausnahmen sind vielleicht so Mietwohnungen, auch da sollte man nicht laut sein, aber man kann jetzt ja staubsaugen in seiner Mietwohnung, das ist ja jetzt nicht weiter problematisch. Exceptions are perhaps rental apartments; you shouldn’t be loud there either, but you can vacuum in your rental apartment now, that’s not really problematic.
Ja, auf jeden Fall. Also staubsaugen bin ich mir zwar auch immer ein bisschen unsicher, ob das jetzt irgendwen stört, aber ich glaube, das ist alles im Rahmen. Yes, definitely. Well, with vacuuming I’m also always a bit unsure if it bothers anyone, but I think it’s all within reasonable limits.
Aber ansonsten hätte ich jetzt schon gesagt, dass es in Mietwohnungen ja fast noch strenger ist, als wenn du jetzt ein eigenes Haus hast und so, weil da bist du ja ein bisschen weiter weg von den Leuten, die es stören könnte. Zumindest was in deinem Haus passiert. Rasenmähen oder so was kannst du halt dann trotzdem nicht, solltest du nicht. But otherwise, I would have said that it’s almost even stricter in rental apartments than if you have your own house and all, because there you’re a bit further away from the people it might disturb. At least regarding what happens inside your house. Lawn mowing or something like that you still can’t do, or shouldn’t.
Solltest du nicht, nee. Also ich denke, das betrifft schon vor allem die Leute, die irgendwie in Einfamilienhäusern mit Garten und Grundstück wohnen und Nachbarn in unmittelbarer Nähe haben und so. You shouldn’t, no. So I think that mainly affects people who live in detached houses with gardens and property and have neighbors in the immediate vicinity and so on.
