Wir haben ja hin und wieder mal eine Folge dabei, in der es ein bisschen um ernstere Themen geht. Wir sind ja eigentlich der Podcast für gute Laune und schnelles Deutschlernen, aber wir wollen das immer mal wieder auch mit ernsthafteren Themen anreichern, das Ganze, und auch einfach auf so ein paar Probleme hinweisen, die es gibt. Every now and then we have an episode that deals with slightly more serious topics. We are actually the podcast for good moods and fast German learning, but every now and then we want to enrich the whole thing with more serious topics and also simply point out a few problems that exist.
Wir haben mal eine Folge gemacht zuletzt, da ging es um Plastikmüll: Wie viel Plastik produzieren eigentlich die Deutschen? Dann ging es auch schon mal um die deutsche Wildtierlandschaft: Wie gefährdet sind die deutschen Wildtiere? We recently did an episode about plastic waste: How much plastic do Germans actually produce? Then we also talked about the German wildlife landscape: How endangered are German wild animals?
Und es sind einfach Themen, die uns am Herzen liegen und wo wir sagen, dass wir diesen Podcast auch so ein bisschen dazu nutzen könnten, ja, um gewisse Dinge vielleicht mehr ins Bewusstsein zu rücken und sichtbarer zu machen und trotzdem nicht den eigentlichen Zweck zu verfehlen, nämlich Deutsch zu lernen, ne? Das ist immer noch das Hauptziel, aber warum sollte man das nicht auch mit solchen Themen machen können? And these are simply topics that are close to our hearts and where we say that we could also use this podcast a little bit, yes, to perhaps bring certain things more into people’s awareness and make them more visible, and yet not miss the actual purpose, which is to learn German, right? That is still the main goal, but why shouldn’t it be possible to do that with such topics as well?
Ja, und heute, Amelie, haben wir ein wirklich schwieriges, ernstes Thema mitgebracht. Vielleicht magst du mal was dazu sagen. Yes, and today, Amelie, we have brought a really difficult, serious topic. Maybe you would like to say something about it.
Mhm, ja. Und zwar geht es um das Thema Gewalt gegen Frauen in Deutschland. Und ja, ist einfach ein sehr, sehr großes Thema, ein wichtiges Thema, was ja irgendwie immer Redebedarf erfordert und gerade jetzt auch, glaube ich, sehr im öffentlichen Diskurs diskutiert wird, weil es da gerade einen Fall in der Öffentlichkeit gab, über den wir auch noch mal ganz kurz sprechen werden. Und ja, deshalb ist das heute mal Thema, würde ich sagen. Mhm, yes. Specifically, it’s about the topic of violence against women in Germany. And yes, it’s just a very, very big topic, an important topic that somehow always requires discussion and is currently, I think, being heavily debated in public discourse because there was just a public case that we will also talk about very briefly. And yes, that’s why it’s today’s topic, I would say.
Genau. Lass uns doch gleich direkt da reingehen. Also dieser Fall – vielleicht hat der eine oder andere von euch das auch schon gehört, wenn ihr so ein bisschen die Medien verfolgt. Wenn ihr in Deutschland wohnt, dann habt ihr sicherlich das irgendwie mitgekriegt am Rande. Konkret ging es da um ein sehr bekanntes Pärchen, ne? Zwei Schauspieler. Exactly. Let’s dive straight into it. So this case – maybe one or two of you have already heard about it if you follow the media a bit. If you live in Germany, you have certainly noticed it somehow on the sidelines. Specifically, it was about a very well-known couple, right? Two actors.
Genau, zwei Schauspieler. Und zwar um Collien Fernandes und Christian Ulmen. Und die beiden waren verheiratet. Und ja, weißt du, was vorgefallen ist? Erst mal so gefragt. Exactly, two actors. Namely Collien Fernandes and Christian Ulmen. And the two were married. And yes, do you know what happened? Just asking first.
Ja, ich habe so eine grundlegende Idee davon, ja. Genau. Also es ging um sogenannte Deepfakes, ne? Das war, glaube ich, der Hauptvorwurf, der gegen Christian Ulmen im Raum stand, ne? Also zur Erklärung: Was sind Deepfakes? Mit KI generierte Bilder im Prinzip, ne? Yes, I have a basic idea of it, yes. Exactly. So it was about so-called deepfakes, right? That was, I think, the main allegation against Christian Ulmen in the room, right? So for explanation: What are deepfakes? In principle, images generated with AI, right?
Ja, genau. Also ganz konkret war es so, dass Collien Fernandes vor Kurzem damit an die Öffentlichkeit gegangen ist, dass ihr Ex-Mann Fake-Profile online von ihr erstellt haben soll mit KI. Und zwar hat er dann damit pornografische Fotos und Videos online verbreitet von ihr und online Affären in ihrem Namen geführt quasi. Und ja, das war eigentlich so der konkrete Vorwurf. Yes, exactly. To be specific, Collien Fernandes recently went public with the allegation that her ex-husband supposedly created fake online profiles of her using AI. He then used them to distribute pornographic photos and videos of her online and virtually conducted online affairs in her name. And yes, that was basically the concrete accusation.
Außerdem kam dann auch noch raus, oder hat sie dann auch noch gesagt, dass er auch, ja, sie körperlich angegriffen haben soll, so. Er selber hatte sich noch nicht öffentlich dazu geäußert oder so was zu diesen Vorwürfen. Genau, das ist jetzt so dieser konkrete Fall. In addition, it also came out, or rather she also said, that he supposedly attacked her physically as well. He himself had not yet publicly commented on these allegations or anything like that. Exactly, that is this specific case now.
Und dieser Fall hat natürlich dafür gesorgt, dass das ganze Thema digitale Gewalt grundsätzlich öffentlich viel mehr diskutiert wurde jetzt. Also da haben vielleicht ja auch viele von euch das mitbekommen – ich weiß nicht, ob du es so mitbekommen hast –, aber in den sozialen Medien gab es ja einen riesengroßen Aufschrei. Da wurde viel dazu geteilt, viele weitere Frauen sind auch irgendwie an die Öffentlichkeit gegangen mit Fällen, wo sie eben selber in einer ähnlichen Lage waren oder so was. And this case naturally ensured that the entire topic of digital violence became much more discussed publicly now. So maybe many of you noticed that too – I don’t know if you caught it that way – but there was a huge outcry in social media. A lot was shared about it, and many other women also somehow went public with cases where they themselves were in a similar situation or something like that.
Und unter digitaler Gewalt zählen eben alle möglichen Sorten von Belästigung, Bedrohung, Angriffe, Bloßstellung im Internet eben über soziale Netzwerke, Messenger und so weiter. And digital violence includes all sorts of harassment, threats, attacks, and public exposure on the internet via social networks, messengers, and so on.
Das Problem an solchen Fällen ist ja eben das, was du ja auch schon meintest, so ein bisschen, dass diese Taten juristisch sehr schwer einzuordnen sind und zu verfolgen sind. So, ja? Also weil diese Tatbestände – das ist alles noch sehr neu. Und es gibt noch nicht so richtig diese Paragrafen dafür, die da so wirklich greifen, um da tatsächlich gegen vorzugehen. So, diese gesetzlichen Regelungen sind halt einfach noch nicht ausgereift genug, weil das ganze Thema noch zu neu ist, ne? Auch das grundsätzliche Thema KI eben. So, und das ist erst mal ein großes Problem. The problem with such cases is exactly what you mentioned earlier, that these acts are legally very difficult to classify and prosecute. Right? Because these offenses – it’s all still very new. And there aren’t really paragraphs yet that actually apply to effectively take action against it. Thus, these statutory regulations are simply not mature enough yet because the entire topic is still too new, right? Also the fundamental topic of AI itself. So, that is a big problem first of all.
